General Team Information
URI Gymnastics competes as a part of NAIGC (National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs) and was established in 2010 as a club team. At URI, we are members of the Club Sports program through Campus Recreation.
This team operates at an extremely competitive level, having both our level 8 and level 9 teams qualify to team Finals at Nationals for the past four years. All team members try out to be on the team, and once apart of the program are expected at all practices.
Tryouts begin in the Fall semester. When the team is named, practices start and the team begins fundraising for the Spring semester. In the Spring semester practices continue and the team enters competition season.
The team practices at a local gym (New Generation), located 5 minutes off of the URI campus. We have two members on our coaching staff that attend every practice. Head coach, Michael Franco, was the assistant coach of the D1 program and has been with the team for four years. Assistant Coach, Becca Farren, was a part of the club team when she attended URI.
